This is a song that I wrote about the meaning of technology, which goes perfectly with this gathering. I started thinking about when I was in college, especially as a blind person, doing a research paper was a major undertaking. You had to go to the library, see if you could get them to find the books for you, you know, footnotes and all that. Now you can just go on Google. Just look it up. I wish I had that when I was in college. Anyway, this is a song about -- we have all this, but what are we going to do with it? It's called "All the Answers."
Lyrics:
♫ What is the weather in Cincinatti? ♫
♫ What is the time in Tokyo? ♫
♫ Who is this little child's daddy? ♫
♫ And who the hell needs to know? ♫
♫ Why do memories of you linger ♫
♫ when I'm trying to reach my goal? ♫
♫ And why must I move my fingers ♫
♫ to the music in my soul? ♫
♫ I don't know ♫
♫ I don't have to know ♫
♫ 'Cause here I go ... ♫
♫ And I got all the answers ♫
♫ Right here in my hand ♫
♫ And I got all the answers ♫
♫ And I don't have to understand ♫
♫ 'Cause I got all the answers ♫
♫ Think I'll rummage through the century ♫
♫ while I listen to the sea ♫
♫ Oh, it's good to be so free ♫
♫ so free ♫
♫ Who was mayor of Chicago ♫
♫ back in 1964? ♫
♫ And why did Shakespeare create Iago ♫
♫ to tear apart a love so pure? ♫
♫ How can my dreams be so vivid ♫
♫ in a psychosonic way? ♫
♫ Why must I become so livid ♫
♫ about the news I had today? ♫
♫ I don't know ♫
♫ I don't have to know ♫
♫ And here I go ... ♫
♫ 'Cause I got all the answers ♫
♫ right here in my hand ♫
♫ And I got all the answers ♫
♫ See, I don't have to understand ♫
♫ 'Cause I got all the answers ♫
♫ I think I'll browse on through ♫
♫ the tabloid news ♫
♫ while I sip my tea ♫
♫ Mm, it's good to be so free ♫
(Trumpet sounds)
♫ I never ever have to be alone ♫
♫ I can do it all right here in my home ♫
♫ Yeah, mm-hmm ... ♫
♫ Everything that's ever been known ♫
♫ I can punch it up right here on my phone ♫
♫ Freedom train, coming soon ♫
♫ Right here in my living room ♫
♫ From Baton Rouge to Saskatoon ♫
♫ and all points in between ♫
♫ 'Cause I got all the answers ♫
♫ right here on my screen ♫
♫ And I got all the answers, yeah ♫
♫ I got every book and magazine ♫
♫ I got all, I got all, I got all ... ♫
♫ I got all the answers ♫
♫ All the answers, oh yeah ♫
♫ Uh-huh ... ♫
♫ But I tell you what I'm going to do ♫
♫ I'm going to find the capitol of Peru ♫
♫ Or the latitude of Kathmandu ♫
♫ I'm gonna Google it ♫
♫ 'Cause everybody's doing it ♫
♫ And then I'll rummage through the century ♫
♫ I got all, I got all, I got all ... ♫
♫ I got all the answers ♫
♫ Yeah, yeah ♫
♫ I got all the answers ♫

Erika Mann openly opposed the Nazis, and in 1933, along with the actress Therese Giehse, she started a cabaret called "Die Pfeffermühle," or "The Pepper Grinder." It had an anti-fascist message that was barely concealed under performances of fairy tales and fables. The act didn't last long in Germany — she went into exile, and the Nazis revoked her passport — but she and Giehse traveled all over Europe, giving 1,000 performances, and the cabaret was extremely popular. She and her friend, poet W.H. Auden, married in 1935, even though she was a lesbian woman and he was a gay man, because the marriage got her a British passport so she could be free of Nazi persecution. She went on to write several books about the Nazis, including School for Barbarians (1938), about the German education system under Nazi control. She was one of the only women who was allowed in to interview the defendants during the Nuremberg trials, and she continued to work as a journalist documenting the climate of post-war Europe.

National Book Awards: Maxine Hong Kingston 2.0
Maxine Hong Kingston said she was currently writing page 173 of a long poem. “I am using poetic form because I’m old enough to know that I can cease to be at any moment and I can condense all I know into short lines that can stand on their own,” she said. “Thank you for accompanying me on the immense journey and thank you for giving me this spurt of praise that will carry me to the finish line.”
生活 - 五月天
有场战争 就在眼前
斗志斗不过温暖棉被
水龙头里 流出眼泪
又是残酷的美好一天
眼前有一千件事 正等着解决
Everybody 想要改变
EverythingwontbeOK
七点的一杯咖啡 八点的红绿灯 斑马线
A busy game Everyday
A crying game Everyday

it's ridiculous how i have to put up with patronising chants of "yes, yes" from someone I'm doing a favour (many favours actually, cos it's more than once every day) by waking up. I shouldn't even let it affect me (i'm more irritated in a temporary way, so it's still ok)
argh. i hate ppl being patronising (edited from "i hate patronising ppl" notice e difference. its e behaviour dat i hate, cos e person isnt defined by this characteristic, esp when she's doing it out of a my-body-wna-slp-despite-the-afflictions-from-an-overachiever's-mind defense mechanism)
I know your alarm songs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than you.
why must i be involved in the fight between her subconscious and her conscious anw.
